Our Establishment Summary
Local Economic Development Limited is a Non-for-Profit Limited Liability company registered in Papua New Guinea as a PNG base company to operate as the Farmers Base Company (FBC).
LEDL was formed to operate as the Farmers Base Organization (FBO) with the aim of empowering small scale rural PNG farmers to achieve their socio-economic goals. The reason why LEDL was formed was to help minimize the current socio-economic challenges face by most smallholder rural and remote famers in the Papua New Guinea especially East and West Sepik Province.
LEDL main aim was to Integrate small remote and rural cocoa farmers into the global cocoa value chain (GVC). We also strive to promote and encourage sustainable small scale commercial cocoa farming and act as the Farmers Export Administrator and Management Agent.

LEDL is a private not-for-profit company limited by guarantee. It is registered in Papua New Guinea as a PNG base company. LEDL as an independent board of Papua New Guinean directors-controls and manages the affairs. LEDL reports to its stakeholders on a regular basis.

OUR MAJOR Project
Local Economic Development Limited was formed purposely to empower rural and remote disadvantage farming family to venture into Agri SME Business.
Nowadays, most disadvantage remote and rural illiterate Farming Family do not have the capacity to own their own Agri-SME Business because of the limited understanding of the certain regulating authority standard. However, that's why we develop certain product to minimize their problem of owning and operating their own SME Business. Our product target respected commodity extension training and UpToDate coaching in the area of Financial Literacy, Manage your Own Business and Family Farm Training.
Currently we are working with the cocoa farming family in Papua New Guinea conducting Cocoa Field Training, start your Agri SME and Own Your Agri SME Business and Financial Literacy Training.
However, in actual practice, most farmers and farmers organizations pursue multiple objectives, often at the same time. For a facilitator, it is very important to understand the motivation of farmers from their perspective. For farmers, the bottom-line is that the time and money spent on group activities should be considered worth the effort for (economic, social, political or other) reasons they find important. Facilitators should know the most important motivations of farmers and to find out if members are all on the same page, which is not always the case, because of the diversity of members and needs, even within the same organization.
